I saw this idea on a TV the size of the actual image is filled with a large piece of cardboard.

not sure if what you want, but I did it myself at Kinkos. They took a digital photo, blew it up to poster size, cut in strips of foam-mounted plate, then into 10 long pieces with an exacto knife. Remained intact in the other table seated, points on the back Velcro, and assembled the puzzle on the back and will be saved.
